Selecting the template for you blog holds great significance. It's a first impression - before anyone even knows what you're writing about.

Too bland? Too colorful? Bah! I chose the black background one. I've always liked that stark contrast of white on black, plus black on a monitor uses less energy, thereby conserving electricity and/or battery power.

So, sometimes you have to go black to be "green".
